Njoroge Wa Githinji: Inooro TV Presenter Who Was Fired While His Wife Was Four Months Pregnant

Life’s twists and turns often test one’s resilience, and for Njoroge wa Githinji, the affable breakfast presenter on Inooro TV, his journey to success is a testament to perseverance.

His story began with a significant setback—losing his job while his wife was four months pregnant, a situation that would shake anyone to their core.

In 2013, Njoroge was working at Mediamax-owned K24, but after only eight months, he received a pink slip. He later recounted in an interview with Kikuyu Diaspora TV, “It’s good to clear the air that I was sacked. I knew the following day I would be among those who were going home.”

The emotional toll of job loss, combined with his impending fatherhood, left him in a state of deep uncertainty. He found himself sitting at Fig Tree in Ngara, wondering what the future held.

Despite the overwhelming emotions and the pressure of supporting his family, Njoroge found strength in his wife’s encouragement.

Rather than letting the setback define him, he chose to embrace the challenge.

With a Diploma in Public Relations already in hand, he decided to pursue further education, enrolling in a journalism degree at the Kenya Methodist University. To make ends meet, he took up laboring at a quarry.

Then came an unexpected twist of fate. On the day his wife gave birth, Njoroge received a call for an interview at QTV’s Mwanaspoti.

He secured the job and began working alongside Joshua Makori as a co-host.

Though his contract ended within a year, it was a stepping stone in his career. Shortly after, he took on sports roles at Ebru TV while continuing his studies part-time.

In a pivotal moment, a friend informed him of an opening at Inooro TV. While he initially applied for the role of sports editor, the station saw potential in him as a presenter and offered him the chance to co-host a new breakfast show.

Today, he has celebrated over six years as the host of Inooro TV Breakfast. Along the way, he has enriched his skills by pursuing a master’s degree in digital journalism.
